Message from Headship Team

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our second week for this term.

May we take the opportunity to thank you for your understanding and co-operation concerning the two days the school had to close last week due to a gas leak. All is fixed and in perfect working order now! The children responded well with their 'see-saw' remote learning while at home.

Learning consultations

You will all receive your child's summary report today and a follow up telephone conversation with the class teacher next week. Please take time to read the report before the conversation. We hope this will be a helpful tool for you to understand where your child is with their learning and how to support their targets.

SAFETY

Thank you to all who are continuing to wear face masks in the playground when dropping off and picking up children. Please also continue to maintain social distancing when talking to other parents. If you need a conversation with your child's teacher, please call the school office, the teacher will contact you via telephone or email.

In classrooms

During this time with the pandemic,  we are keeping the school well ventilated. Where possible, we have windows and doors open. Children may need to wear thermal vests, layers in order to keep warm.

Chesterfield will be taking part in 'odd socks day' to raise more awareness of our zero tolerance against bullying. All children are asked to wear odd socks on Monday 16th November. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!

Please click here  for more information.

Children will be learning all about road safety next week. Please remember that we are all role models and children learn by what they see and do.

Please do not stop your car outside the school gate to drop children off-this is un-safe as children are forced to cross in front of other cars, which may be moving. It is also illegal due to the fact that children are being put in danger.

Coldham Grove gate

We have noticed that the roads outside the Nursery and Reception entrance to our school are becoming increasingly crowded and dangerous with cars. This is especially evident at home times as children and parents are crossing the road whilst cars are squeezing past each other, mounting the kerb and reversing round corners. We would like to ask that, whenever possible, you leave your car on Standard Road rather than bring them to Coldham Grove for the safety of your children.

We appreciate your support in this matter.

Remember: All persons in a vehicle must wear a seat belt-it is the law.

Well done Rainbow class!  practising how to cross the road safely.

Car seat regulations

Car park in Chesterfield Road

May we please remind you that, you are not permitted to park in the residents car park in Chesterfield Road. This is for residents only. Resident's cars may need to leave and they are often blocked in.

Please help our community by being considerate. Thank you

                      Parent engagement with school

During this unprecedented time of Coronavirus, sadly, we are unable to have parents in the school.  Therefore, we  are running workshops and coffee afternoons via zoom.

This week we had a very successful shared presentation from our Early years leads on 'How we do things in Reception'. Thank you to all the parents that joined us. Please click here to view the presentation.

A 'coffee afternoon' zoom meeting will take place on Thursday 19th November 13:30 to 14:00. A zoom invite will be sent to all parents via text on the day. Our Parent Advisor Lale and Deputy Headteacher Androulla are looking forward having a chat and answering any questions you may have.

For your diary-Future parent zoom meetings:

Get caught reading!

Our teachers have been caught reading in some unusual places. They love to read and take any opportunity they can to delve into a good book.  Please feel free to share your photos of you reading in your favourite places. Pop a picture into Seesaw or bring in a photo for your teacher to share.

Let's get the whole of Chesterfield reading every day!

Chesterfield took part in supporting 'Children in Need' today.

We had a non-uniform day and children donated to this worthwhile charity.

Thank you so much for your donations.

Christmas cards

It's that time of year again!  Classes will have post boxes for any children who would like to bring in Christmas cards for their friends. The cards will remain in the postbox the required quarantine time before we 'deliver' them out.
