Message from Headship Team

Dear All,

Welcome to the start of our Spring term 2021.

Remote learning
A huge thank you for everyone who has been interacting with home learning this week.  Thank you for all your positive feedback. We are aware of the pressures of working from home, having little people around and technology not behaving as it should. Do what you can and get in touch via Seesaw, or the email
 help@chesterfieldprimaryelt.org if you get stuck.

Thank you for collecting the Google chrome books which the Enfield learning Trust has supplied for each child from Year 1 to Year 6. We hope it supports the children with accessing all the exceptional work teachers are putting up on Seesaw. Look out for all the new activities next week...and some surprises!

We will be contacting all children that are not accessing home learning in order to support any difficulties.

Next week, we will send out a survey to gather parental feedback on home learning.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.

SATs Cancelled

The Education Secretary let schools know that formal SATs will not be taking place this year. We will continue to record an end of year learning assessment for all our children, and give you more information about our plans for the year ahead as they are made.

School meals

All children in school will now receive a hot school meal at lunch time.

Well being

We would like to offer some ideas and suggestions for activities linked to looking after our mental health and wellbeing which is particularly vital in these challenging circumstances. There is no expectation to complete these tasks, just there for you to use as you wish.

Connect

Connect with the people around you which is particularly important and challenging during this crisis.

Online platforms are a great way to enable us to see family and friends as well as speaking on the phone.

However you stay in contact with others simply talking about how you feel can make a big difference.

Be active

Current guidance says that everyone is able to go out each day  for a walk, cycle or run.

There are lots of online workouts covering a wide range of activities and abilities   that can be done within the home.

If  you have access to a garden or outdoor space you can use this  to get active.

Take Notice

Being aware of the world around you and what you’re feeling.

Take some time each day to talk about how everyone is feeling and to connect with one another.

Also, when going outside for your daily exercise, take a few moments to notice the feelings of fresh air and sunshine on your face.

Listen to the sounds around you.  What do you notice?

Keep Learning

Learning something new or improving a skill you already have is great for giving a sense of achievement.

As a family you could talk about the things you enjoy doing and what you can teach each other. Set yourselves a challenge and enjoy the steps you take in attempting to master it.

More than ever, there are also lots of free online courses and classes to access which cover a wide range of activities.

Give-be kind

There are ways you can help others while still following the guidelines.  Do something kind for a family member or friend.  Thank someone. Smile.

Make thank-you notes or pictures for someone in your family.

Ask a family member if they need help in completing a household job, eg hanging out the washing or assist with meal preparation.

Mindful breathing

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight.

Close your eyes.

Focus on breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Pay attention to the rise and fall of your breath.

Count to four when breathing in and count to four when breathing out.

Do this about four times.

When you are ready gently open your eyes and come back to the here and now.

When it rains, it pours…

but soon, the sun shines again.

Stay positive.  Better days are on their way.

Carry on reading!

Please remember to read every day. You all have even more time to do this now!
