Welcome message

Dear All,

We have now completed our second week in this latest Covid 19 lockdown. The learning curve to our new way of teaching and learning has been very positive. Once again, thank you to all children, parents and staff for all your hard work. Remember to take breaks and get some fresh air and exercise while at home.

Well done to everyone who has been interacting with home learning . Thank you for all your positive feedback, it is good to hear. One parent's feedback:

"Thank you so much for all your help. The school have been amazing and have done a fantastic job supporting not just the pupils but the staff as well. We really appreciate it...the teachers have just been amazing to pull off such a huge job!"      (Aaron's mum)

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.

Remote Learning

Thank you for collecting the Google chrome books which the Enfield learning Trust supplied for each child from Year 1 to Year 6. We hope it supports the children with accessing all the exceptional work teachers are putting up on Seesaw. Look out for all the new activities next week...and some more surprises!

Click here   for a video support on using see-saw

As always, if you require technical help with the chrome books please email: help@chesterfieldprimaryelt.org

A happy parent collecting a chrome book from school.

Increasing mobile data:

The mobile data scheme temporarily increases data allowances for mobile phone users on certain networks. This is so that children and young people can access remote education if their face-to-face education is disrupted.

As a school we can now request mobile data increases for children and young people who meet all 3 of these criteria:

  • do not have fixed broadband at home
  • cannot afford additional data for their devices
  • are experiencing disruption to their face-to-face education

Children with access to a mobile phone on one of the following networks might be able to benefit:

  • EE
  • O2
  • Sky Mobile
  • SMARTY
  • Tesco Mobile
  • Three
  • Virgin Mobile
  • Vodafone

Other providers may join the scheme at a later stage.

To request extra mobile data, we will need to collect the following information:

  • the account holder’s name
  • their mobile number (a number beginning with ‘07’)
  • their mobile network
  • whether they pay monthly or pay as they go

Please contact the school office if this is something you are interested in.

Just Dance!

As a way of keeping active, year 5 have been dancing - even the teachers!

Last week, we had a dance off, on Zoom - have a look and you decide who is the best dancer.

This weeks' song is "Old Town Road." Look out for that video in next week's newsletter.

Shout outs!

Hello to all Year 1 children and families. As teachers we are all so very proud of all of your work you have been doing on seesaw and how you have been engaging with your learning. It has been wonderful to see all of your happy faces too. Stay safe and happy and keep learning! From all of the Year 1 team.

Blanka in Violet class has completed every piece of work, everyday and presented it really well. Fantastic, keep it up Blanka.

Everest class, we are so proud of you!  All children are working so hard and trying their very best, well done.

Olympus Class -Today, we sequenced the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar using pictures. Musabb and Yahya worked so hard, using story language to retell the story and telling the ending in their own words.

Free School meals

Families who receive free school meals have been able to pick up food boxes from school the last two weeks. We hope the leaflet on ideas with what meals you were able to prepare with the items helped.

Starting next week, families who receive free school meals will be allocated food vouchers. Please ensure that the school has your correct email address for the vouchers to be sent to you.

Resource materials to support  learning

Along with the food boxes we gave out resources to support children with their home learning. If  anyone else thinks their child/children can benefit from these resources, please let the school office or class teacher know and a pack will be prepared for you.

First News-news to get young people talking.

First News are providing temporary access to the digital edition of the newspaper for pupils during lockdown. Pupils can gain access at home via the online web reader. Please visit the digitaledition.firstnews.co.uk and enter FNELOCK3

Mindful breathing

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight.

Close your eyes.

Focus on breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Pay attention to the rise and fall of your breath.

Count to four when breathing in and count to four when breathing out.

Do this about four times.

When you are ready gently open your eyes and come back to the here and now.

Well Being

Attitude of gratitude

  • Focus on breathing as outlined previously.
  • Think of one thing that you’re grateful for and keep this image in your mind.
  • What feelings or sensations do you notice?
  • Continue this for a few minutes.
