Friday 23rd April 2021

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the start of the summer term at Chesterfield. We hope you are all keeping well and safe and that you have had a good Easter break.

Thank you all for continuing your safe distancing and for wearing face coverings when in the school playground and at the entrance gates. Your safety is important to all of us. We are all role models to the children, and it is all our continued responsibility to teach them about safety during this pandemic.

The school will be closed on Monday 3rd May for the bank holiday. We will open again on Tuesday 4th May as usual.

Have a lovely weekend!

Rainbow Class Wow day  During the day the children discovered that they are all superheroes because they help others and make the world a better place with their individual qualities of kindness, caring, happiness, intelligence and by sharing their smiles!

Ruth has worked with Year 5 to create these wonderful cubist style paintings, inspired by Pablo Picasso.  Well done year 5.

Attendance and punctuality

At Chesterfield we take attendance and punctuality very seriously as we want to give all of our children the best possible start in life and there is a direct link between the amount of time children spend in school and the progress they make.

We recognise the role parents have to play in supporting and encouraging good attendance and punctuality. Thank you for your support.

Please remember that school gates now open 8:50 - 9:05.

Children MUST be in school by 9:05. Children arriving after 9:05 will be marked as late in the register.

Please be on time everyday. This helps your child form good life habits for the future. Occasionally lateness may be due to an event beyond your control. However in general being late should be avoided for the following reasons:

Children who are late:

  • Miss out on valuable learning and group discussions
  • Feel uncomfortable coming in late into a class of children already getting on with their work
  • May have a shorter time to find out what they are doing and to complete their task, which may put them off trying their best

If you are late more than three times a supportive meeting takes place with our attendance officer and Deputy Headteacher.

If lateness is considered to be affecting your child's learning and development, the London Borough of Enfield's Educational Welfare Officer, will offer further support in order for your child to arrive on time.
