Friday 11th June 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you are all keeping well and safe.

We are in our final school term for this academic year, and we are going to make the most of every day with teaching and learning.

Thank you for continuing to keep your distance and wearing face masks at the school gates and in the playground.

We await with anticipation on the Covid safety outlines our Prime minister will announce on the 21st June.  We will then inform you of updates with our school Covid risk assessment.

Have a lovely weekend!

Zoe and Kelly

'Shout-outs' from staff to children for their brilliant achievements:

During mental health awareness week, Year 4 worked together and produced a stunning bug hotel.

A big well done to the children who took part in the after school First Aid club in Year 3.  They have learned good, basic first aid on a range of topics and were given their much deserved certificates.

Attendance and punctuality

We recognise the role parents have to play in supporting and encouraging good attendance and punctuality. Thank you for your support.

Please remember that school gates now open 8:50 and close at 9:10. Children arriving after 9:10 will be marked as late in the register.

Please be on time every day. This helps your child form good life habits for the future. Occasionally lateness may be due to an event beyond your control. However, in general being late should be avoided for the following reasons:

The impact of lateness on your child’s learning:

5 minutes late every day 3 days lost each year

10 minutes late every day 6 days lost each year

15 minutes late every day 10 days lost each year

30 minutes late every day 19 days lost each year

Please note that holiday requests during term time will not be authorised.

Classes that achieved 96% and over for attendance during the week from 24th -28th May are:

Blueberry 96%

Birch 98%

Rowan 99%

Robin 98%

Saffron 97%

Turmeric 98%

Amazon 96%

Thames 98%

Olympus 96%

Cinnamon 99%

Well done!

Attendance Ambassadors

Our attendance ambassadors have now met twice with their class. They have discussed the rewards they would like after receiving five 96% attendance certificates. The children have also decided on holding special days every week to encourage children to come to school. These will start on the week commencing 21st June.

We are all enjoying the good weather. Please can we remind you that on sunny days children should apply sunscreen each morning before school. Children are also encouraged to wear a sun hat when outside in the playground for PE, playtimes and lunchtimes. Please can we also remind you that children should wear sensible shoes that provide adequate foot support with their toes fully covered and protected. Open-toed sandals are not permitted.

Thank you for your co-operation.

We have had some exciting new residents at Chesterfield.

Our chicks have arrived and the children and staff love them!

They are growing fast and are slowly being introduced to their outside home.

May we please remind you that all children should either wear a seat belt or be in a car seat for their age.

Thank you for your understanding.
