Friday 1st October 2021

Dear Parents,

We are back into a fun and learning routine!

Today the children from Year 3 to year 6 are voting for their parliamentary council member. Classes are going into the hall where they are listening to their candidates make their speeches. They are then voting in the ballot box. Our panel of children counting the votes will let us know the winners shortly!

We wish you all a happy and safe weekend.

Attendance and Punctuality

At Chesterfield Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously as we want to give all our children the best possible start in life. There is a direct link between the amount of time children spend in school and the progress they make.

Classes with 96% and above this week are:

Brazil class 96%

Spain Class 96%

Somalia Class 97%

Well done!

We would like children to adopt good habits of attending and punctually. It is disruptive to your child and to the rest of the class when children arrive late. Latecomers may miss important information and teaching and children are often upset about going into classes and assemblies when they are late as they feel embarrassed.

5 minutes late every day

3 days of learning lost

10 minutes late every day

6 days of learning lost

15 minutes late every day

10 days of learning lost

30 minutes late every day

19 days of learning lost

However, we would rather your child comes to school late than not at all.

At Chesterfield we love to read.  Every child take a book of their choice and a reading book from the teacher home every week. Children that have five recordings of reading a week in their reading records will receive a reward.  We encourage every child to read every day. Please click here for more information and support to help your child read.

Breakfast club is available for all children. It starts from 8:00

Daily charge £2.50 via parent pay.

New members to the breakfast club will need to complete a form which can be collected from the school office.
