Message from Headship Team

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our last newsletter for the autumn term. It has been a challenging time, but the resilience of our staff and children has shone through.

As always, thank you to all parents, children and staff for making Chesterfield the exceptional place it is. We all play a part in the jigsaw that makes the school a whole picture.

We will be saying farewell to Charlotte Yeates our teaching assistant this week. We wish her the very best with her future, and thank her for the wonderful contribution to Chesterfield.

We wish you all a safe and restful break. More than ever, we wish you a happy and healthy new year!

See you all again on Tuesday 5th January 2021 for the start of our spring term.

SAFETY

Thank you to all who are continuing to wear face masks in the playground when dropping off and picking up children. Please also continue to maintain social distancing when talking to other parents. If you need a conversation with your child's teacher, please call the school office, the teacher will contact you via telephone or email.

In classrooms  During this time with the pandemic,  we are keeping the school well ventilated. Where possible, we have windows and doors open. Children may need to wear thermal vests, layers in order to keep warm.

Christmas lunch

All children and staff enjoyed a wonderful Christmas lunch last week. It was lovely to hear happy voices and laughter of enjoyment in the school. There was a buzzing atmosphere with all staff and children as they enjoyed their lunch.

Festive singing

The children had a magnificent time with their Christmas performance. Thank you to our music teacher Magda for organising it. Magda has also put all this together for parents to view. Please follow the link that has been sent to you via a SMS text, or click on the links below to view the performances.

You are in for a treat!

Get caught reading!

Our teachers not only read in unusual places but also read a book to anyone who will listen. Here are some more pictures of us sharing a book and having a jolly good time. Who do you like reading to?

Please feel free to share your photos of you reading in your favourite places. Pop a picture into Seesaw or bring in a photo for your teacher to share.

Let's get the whole of Chesterfield reading every day!

Gross motor challenge for the first week back after Christmas break

At Chesterfield we are working on strengthening our core body. Some of our muscles need to be strong to help us to sit up straight and make our handwriting nice and neat.

From January we will have a skill for you to master each week. You can practise during playtimes, lunchtimes and PE lessons. Look out for your weekly gross motor challenge here.

For our first week back our ‘gross motor challenge’ will be skipping, so get practising!
