Dear Parents,

We hope you are all keeping well and safe.

Unfortunately we have had to have some classes isolating at home this week. We are ensuring that quality work is undertaken via google classrooms daily.

If your child is in one of the classes that are isolating, please avoid bringing them to the school gate when dropping off or picking up siblings. You may bring siblings in earlier/later to avoid the isolating child mixing with others.

If you have been asked by the school to keep your child at home because your child has one of the COVID symptoms, you must also keep any siblings home, until the child with symptoms has been tested negative or for ten days.

If your child has been sent home with COVID symptoms, we advise that he/she have a PCR COVID test and advise the school of the result. If the result is negative and the child feels OK, the child can return to school.

May we please remind you that the school is closed on Monday 28th June and will open again on Tuesday 29th June.

Attendance and punctuality

We recognise the role parents have to play in supporting and encouraging good attendance and punctuality. Thank you for your support.

Please remember that school gates now open 8:50 and close at 9:10. Children arriving after 9:10 will be marked as late in the register.

Please be on time every day. This helps your child form good life habits for the future. Occasionally lateness may be due to an event beyond your control. However, in general being late should be avoided for the following reasons:

The impact of lateness on your child’s learning:

5 minutes late every day 3 days lost each year

10 minutes late every day 6 days lost each year

15 minutes late every day 10 days lost each year

30 minutes late every day 19 days lost each year

Please note that holiday requests during term time will not be authorised.

Break the rules day: Monday 5^th July

Following meetings with our school attendance ambassadors, children have discussed ways to promote attendance. One of these ideas were to have ‘special’ days.

The first of these days that were voted for was, ‘break the rules day’. Therefore, we would like to give each child (and staff!) the opportunity to break some school rules for the day.

Children (and staff) can choose to break up to four rules. The fine for each rule broken will be 50p.

We aim to make this a fun experience and children are reminded that all other school rules still apply!

Please see the list below on rules that are allowed to be broken.

Crazy hair	50p
Juice or squash in water bottle	50p
Chocolate/crisps for snack	50p
Wear trainers to school that are not black	50p
Wear a hat in school	50p
Wear nail varnish	50p
Have a temporary tattoo	50p

Eat your pudding first	50p

Children to bring 50p for each rule they break. All money will go towards attendance rewards.

Chesterfield Summer Festival 28th June - 2nd July

On the week commencing 28th June Chesterfield will be celebrating Chesterfield Summer Festival. KS1 will be singing songs recorded by Enfield Music Head, Elena. KS2 will be singing their favourite pop songs. Recordings will be available on our school website to watch, stay tuned!

World Music Day -14th July

World Music Day this year will be celebrated on 14th July (instead of 21st June). Pupils will start the day with meditation. During the day, they will be challenged to learn songs in different languages, like Chinese or Te Reo Maori which is a native language of New Zealand. Students also will be taking part in a Body Percussion Workshop organised by Magda our Music Teacher. Teachers will be dressed as Rock Stars. We hope our pupils will have a fun, musical day!

May we please remind you that mobile phones are not permitted to be used on school grounds. You are not permitted to take any photographs or videos of your children in the playground because other children's images will be in the background.
