Message from Headship Team

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the end of our third week since the beginning of term. Sadly, we are all still living with the Coronavirus around us.

It is important we stay alert and look after ourselves and each other. At all stages we follow the guidance given by the Department for Education and Public health England. Translated guidance can also be found on our home page on the website.

Please click here to view answers to some frequently asked questions about Covid.

Whilst we have reduced the number of visitors into school and opportunities for parents to come in and see us, it is still important that we are in touch with each other. On a daily basis, this can be through:

School email address: office@chesterfieldprimaryelt.org

Office telephone: 01992 760 678

Please remember to label all pieces of school uniform with your child's name.

Parking

Please can all parents be considerate when parking near the school. Please do not park across the driveways of local residents blocking their access. Take the time to park further away in a more suitable space. Please do not park on the school yellow zig zags.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Fruit and water

Please ensure your child brings in their own named water bottle each day as the school water fountains are currently closed.
All children in the school receive fruit every day as a snack.

What are you reading?

This half term the children are finding out which books the adults are reading at Chesterfield. The children are conducting interviews with adults around the school to find out more.

This interview was lead by Ausra Ramdharry-Panka, Member of School Parliament for Hazel Class and Sue Herencia, Teaching Assistant.

Ausra: What are you currently reading?

Sue: Lady Jane Grey by Sue Reid.

Ausra: What is it about?

Sue: It’s about the diary of a Tudor lady.

Ausra: Why did you choose that book?

Sue: I live in an old house so I wanted to find our how life was back when it was built.

Ausra: What is your favourite part of the book so far?

Sue: Finding out how life was for a 9-year-old girl in a rich family.

Ausra: Based on what you have read, would you recommend your book?

Sue: Yes I think I would.

Ausra: Why?

Sue: For those who are interested in history and getting a personal view of someone’s life, they would find it really interesting.

Ausra: What types of books do you normally like reading?

Sue: Historical stories and fantasy fiction. I also like family sagas and creative books.

Ausra: Are there any other good books you have read that you would recommend to others?

Sue: I would recommend reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer and The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. Art Attack by Neil Buchanan is also great!

Art around the school

Last week the children had an observational drawing lesson. They were able to observe a vase of flowers. Then using just their pencil, carefully draw and shade exactly what they could see from the position they were sitting in the classroom. Some brilliant artists!
