We are committed to working with children and parents/carers to achieve our overall attendance target of 96%. As set out in our attendance policy, we will work with families to identify the reasons for poor attendance and try to resolve any difficulties. Early intervention will be a priority moving forward. Every school day counts. Unfortunately we are unable to authorise holidays during term time. We understand that emergency situations may arise and if you wish to request a Leave of Absence due to an exceptional circumstance you should make a request to the Headteacher using the ‘Request for leave during term time’ form. The local authority may choose to issue a fine for unauthorised holidays taken during term time.
Attendance and punctuality have a direct impact on a pupil's learning and on the smooth running of the school. Pupils are expected to be in school at the times below ready for the start of the school day. Any pupil arriving after this time must be signed in via the school office.
We do expect parents to co-operate fully in encouraging regular attendance.
We work closely with the Educational Welfare Officer, who monitors punctuality and attendance. If attendance drops below 95%, parents are invited in to see the Educational Welfare Officer and the Headteacher. The Educational Welfare Officer may prosecute in extreme cases.
At the end of the day, pupils should be collected at the times stated above. Any pupil not collected by 4:45pm, without notice, will be referred to the police/social services.
To report an absence please call the attendance line on 01992 760678 before 9am on the first day of absence.
We strive to achieve at least 96% -100% attendance across all of our classes at Delta. If your child’s level of absence concerns us or attendance falls below 90%, you will be contacted by the school to look at what can be done to improve attendance.
For more information see our attendance guidance below.
Our breakfast club, opening before the official school day, provides a safe and supervised space for children to be dropped off earlier. This flexibility can make it easier for parents to manage their mornings, reducing lateness and improving overall attendance.
Our breakfast club is more than just a place to eat. It's a vital support mechanism that addresses practical and emotional barriers to attendance, ensuring more of our pupils are in school, on time, and ready to learn, ultimately improving their life chances.
We would like children to adopt good habits of attending and punctually. It is disruptive to your child and to the rest of the class when children arrive late.
Please refer to our attendance policy below.
