School Meals

At Chesterfield Primary School, the school lunches are freshly cooked daily on site. We provide nutritious, healthy food, which we serve in an environment that promotes social interaction between the children.

The Mayor of London's Universal Free School Meals Scheme

  • Currently, this scheme ensures that all primary school children in state-funded schools in London, from Reception through to Year 6, receive a free school lunch.
  • This scheme was initially introduced as a temporary measure to help families with the cost of living crisis and has been extended for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Please download our current menu below.

Infants' Free School Meals

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are able to receive a school meal at no cost to the parent or guardian. Choosing a school lunch for your child/children will help save you up to approximately £400 per year if you take up the offer.

For more information please download the leaflet below.

Free School Meals

Important Note Regarding Pupil Premium:

Even though all primary school children in London currently receive free school meals under the Mayor's scheme, it is still vital for eligible families to register for benefit-related Free School Meals.

Registering for benefit-related Free School Meals can unlock additional funding for our school called Pupil Premium. This funding helps us to provide extra support and resources for eligible children, enriching their educational experience. It can also entitle your family to other benefits such as holiday food vouchers.

Therefore, if you believe you are eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals (e.g., if you receive Universal Credit with an income below a certain threshold), please still register through the usual channels. This will help our school receive the funding it needs to support all our pupils effectively.

If you have any questions about free school meals or Pupil Premium at [Your School Name] Primary School, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

You are entitled to free school meals if you receive one of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income based Job Seeker's Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance (IR)
  • Supported under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit, provided that your annual income is less than £16,190
  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400

Please note that those receiving Working Tax Credit cannot apply.

Children who get any of the above benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.
