Science at Chesterfield
On Monday 13th March we celebrated the beginning of National Science Week with an absolutely amazing, inspirational show provided by the Royal Institution. The show was called 'Explosive Food' and took us on a guided tour through the human digestive system, with a few explosive experiments along the way. The children helped to 'chew' the food, 'digest it' in the stomach and then they watched it travel through the intestine before emerging as...poo! Their reactions were incredible, it was a joy to see them so excited about Science.
Throughout the week classes had the opportunity to plant seeds for our edible garden, due to the inclement weather many of these are sheltering in classrooms currently. Our plan is to cook the food we have grown in the summer term. If you would like to get involved and help look after the Edible Garden in the Summer Term please contact James Quinlan (year 5).
At Chesterfield we want all of our children to be curious scientists. We want our children to aspire to great things, growing up with a desire to be doctors, engineers, astronauts and forensic scientists.
