Statement of Expectation of Behaviour

Whilst the public are on our premises there is an expectation that behaviour by both staff and visitors, including parents of pupils, will meet certain standards.

• Our staff will be polite and courteous towards you at all times. If you feel a member of staff has behaved in an unacceptable way, please end your discussion and report the matter in writing to the Headteacher or senior manager. They will then contact you to investigate and attempt to resolve your complaint

• In return, it is our expectation that you will be polite and courteous to staff. If staff are subjected to unacceptable behaviour they have been instructed to end the discussion with you and inform you of the reasons. You will be asked to leave the premises. A letter to confirm the reasons why you were asked to leave and the action that we intend to take as a result will be sent to you. You will be given the opportunity to discuss the matter with us in a calm and civil manner. If the incident is particularly serious or is repeated you may be barred from the premises.

  The following behaviours are unacceptable:

•  Swearing, spitting, shouting, threatening words or gestures

• Physical intimidation and the use of force such as pushing, pulling, poking,

  prodding etc.

•  Racist, ageist and sexist comments

• Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol whilst on our premises

•  Smoking whilst on our premises

•  Naming the School or Trust on social media

•  Disrespecting the School or Trust in person or on social media

Letter from our CONNECT EDUCATION TRUST CEO

Dear Parents and Carers, It is with great regret that I write to inform you that after 4 years, Zoe Hussain will be resigning from her post as Headteacher at Chesterfield Primary School. Zoe is moving on to a new post this autumn, remaining with us until the end of the 2023 summer term.

Zoe has been a highly effective Headteacher of Chesterfield Primary School. During her time with us, she has led and supported a team, ensured the continued success and development of our school, its staff and pupils.

Chesterfield continues to flourish and it is highly regarded within the local community and enjoys an excellent reputation. This is attributed to the exemplary behaviour of our children and the quality of care and education provided by all the team at Chesterfield. I know Zoe will be leaving the school in very safe hands; and that we are fortunate in having a strong Local Governing Body and leadership team. We also have many brilliant and committed staff who are passionate about improving the education and wellbeing of our children.

The Trust Board and the Local Governing Body have started the recruitment process for a new Headteacher. We will be looking for a strong candidate to take over the position of Headteacher. We do however wish to highlight that Zoe will continue to lead the school until the end of the summer term, and school life will continue as usual.

On behalf of the Trust Board and the Local Governing Body, I would like to thank Zoe for her hard work, commitment and dedication to the achievements and progress of the children at Chesterfield Primary School. We are very sorry to lose Zoe but we wish her all the best in her new role.

The ‘TALK’ checklist from the Internet Watch Foundation is a brilliant free resource that helps inform parents/carers about online safety and gives excellent practical tips, including conversation starters to use with their children.“Whether your child has been using the Internet independently for a while, or are about to get their first mobile phone, it is not too late to take these steps”.

T - TALK to your child about online sexual abuse. Start the conversation – and listen to their concerns.

A - AGREE ground rules about the way you use technology as a family.

L -  LEARN about the platforms and apps your child loves. Take an interest in their online life.

K - KNOW how to use tools, apps and settings that can help to keep your child safe online.

Parent volunteers-we need YOU

Do you have a few hours a week to spare?

Do you like working with children and helping them learn new skills?

If you answer yes to all of these questions, then we would love to hear from you.

Activities could include:

• Reading with individual children who need some extra practise and confidence
• Working with a small group in the classroom
• Support classes in our Library 
• Gardening with a group of children

If you think you may be a suitable person to support a child or group at Chesterfield to enhance academic and social progress and also make a valuable contribution to your child’s school, then please contact the school.
